June Book Haul

monthly book haul

Hi everyone, here I am with my monthly book haul.

JuneHaul1

I can’t believe it’s the end of June already! It’ll be Christmas before we know it. Anyway, you know me this haul is ridiculous as ever so without further delay – here are the books I bought/received in the month of June.

JuneHaul3

These books I bought from Tesco in the 2 for £7 deal

Dear Thing by Julie Cohen

I picked this book up when I was looking for another book to complete my deal, and the blurb took my fancy. I’ve never read anything about a surrogacy before, and it sounded like a thrilling read.

The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Gaiman

I went into Tesco to find this book as I’d seen it in there before, and it turned out to be cheaper than Amazon. I’d seen this mentioned in a 2013 favourite books video on Youtube and made a mental note to read it. I’ve also heard great things about the author, and this book in particular won a National Book Award so I was interested to see what I’d think of it.

Melting Ms Frost by Kat Black

This was another book I bought so that I could complete the deal (I bought these books on different occasions). This book caught my eye, and when I read the blurb I realised it’s a ‘chick-lit’ book from a male perspective. I’ve never read anything like that before so I thought I’d give it a try.

The Unpredictable Consequences Of Love by Jill Mansell

I’ve heard so many good things about this author, so when I saw this book on the shelf as part of the deal, I had to pick it up.

You’re The One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher

This is another book with a lot of hype. I know my friends absolutely loved these and were lucky enough to get advanced copies. I was thrilled to see it in the book deal and I picked it up. I love a good bargain.

Before We Met by Lucie Whitehouse

This was another book I’d seen in a video on Youtube, and they raved about it. I was going to buy it from WHSmith but I saw it in Tesco for the bargain price.

JuneHaul4

These books I bought from Amazon (apart from one)

The DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) by Kody Keplinger

This book was yet another book I found from watching booktuber videos, there were so many with this book on their shelves. I looked up the blurb and the goodreads rating, and it sounded like a nice contemporary YA read.

An Offer You Can’t Refuse by Jill Mansell

This book I originally heard of because of Carrie Hope Fletcher’s video about her top 10 favourite books, and I’d had it on my wishlist for a little while. This one was a belated anniversary present from Stewart, so thank you Stew! I kept looking for it in book shops and I could never find it. Stewart ordered me this for our anniversary and for some reason it took nearly 2 months to get here.

Here Lies Bridget by Paige Harrison

This is the exception to the Amazon purchases. I actually bought this one in The Works when I popped in with my friend, Laura. It was £1 and sounded like a decent read. Bargain.

No-One Ever Has Sex On A Tuesday by Tracy Bloom

I’d seen this quite a lot from other book blogs, and was wondering what it was all about. It was pretty cheap on Amazon, and I needed a filler book so that delivery was free, as you do.

The One by Kiera Cass

I pre-ordered this book a while ago, and it was released this month. I have the other two books in the trilogy so I can now marathon it over the summer.

Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira

This book I’m really looking forward to reading. I was introduced to this book from a booktuber, and I immediately added it to my wishlist. The booktuber said that it was comparable to The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, which I loved so I was eager to give this a read.

JuneHaul6

These books I bought from Amazon

Shopaholic Abroad by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic Ties The Knot by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic & Sister by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic & Baby by Sophie Kinsella

Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

I bought these books to complete the Shopaholic series (before the new one is released). I’m really looking forward to marathoning the series because I have heard so many good things about it.

JuneHaul10

I bought this collection from Amazon.

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han

I saw these books in a video on Youtube. The booktuber was talking about their most anticipated summer reads, and I thought I’d try them too. I saw this 3 in 1 book on Amazon for a fraction of the price of all 3 separately, so I’ll be reading this 800+ paged beauty over the summer.

JuneHaul7

I received these books from the lovely people at Harper Collins. Big thank you to you all!

Stiltsville by Susanna Daniel

I won this book in a twitter giveaway. We had to let them know what our favourite seaside destination was, and I was one of the people drawn to win the book.

Where I Found You by Amanda Brooke

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

I was asked by the publisher if I’d like to review these books for them, and I jumped at the chance because they both sounded absolutely fantastic. I’m particularly looking forward to Dorothy Must Die as is has a fascinating concept.

JuneHaul8

I received the following books from the lovely people at Headline/Bookbridgr.

Beauty by Louise Mensch

The Wrong Knickers: A Decade Of Chaos by Bryony Gordon

Boy 21 by Matthew Quick

I want to say a massive thank you to them for sending me these books, they all look fantastic.

Thank you all for stopping by, if there’s any books you think I should add to my wishlist, please let me know!

May Book Haul

monthly book haul

Hey everyone, welcome to another monthly book haul!

In my April Book Haul, link here, it’s safe to say I went a little insane. I vowed in that post not to go as mental, and I’d like to think I suceeded this month. In this post I’ll be showing you the books I’ve purchased this month, and also the books that I’ve received from publishers. I also won a twitter giveaway this month, which was really exciting as I’ve never won anything before.

Here we go, my considerably tamer May Book Haul…

MayBooks1

I bought all of these books from Tesco in the 2 for £7 deal

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan

Yay, another addition to my collection of John Green book. I’ve head good things about this one in particular, and also I’ve never read anything from David Levithan so I’ll be interested to see what he can do.

The Accident by C. L. Taylor

This book was only £2, and so I picked it up to read the blurb. I thought it sounded really interesting, then I saw a lot of love on twitter for it.

Nine Uses For An Ex-Boyfriend by Sarra Manning

I was quite thrilled to see this book in the deal. Firstly, I was attracted to the cover but then the blurb sold me. I’ve also heard really good things about the author.

Beyond Grace’s Rainbow by Carmel Harrington

This book was recommended to me by Emma Louise, it’s one of her personal favourite books. It does sound really good, and also a tear-jerker, so I’m interested to read it.

The Best Thing I Never Had by Erin Lawless

Emma Louise also recommended this book to me, she said she’d enjoyed it and thought I would too. Quite happy that this and the previous mention were part of the excellent deal, can’t go wrong with a good book bargain.

MayBooks7

These books I bought off Amazon.

Anna And The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I ordered these books the same time I pre-ordered another book (which you’ll see later), and I chose this one because I’d seen it all over Booktube, and on other peoples blogs. The general concensus is that it’s really good, so I wanted to read it and form my own opinions.

Me And Earl And The Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

This book went into my basket for a similar reason to the previous, I’d seen it on Booktube a lot! I’ve heard this is comparable to The Fault In Our Stars (which I loved), and I wanted to see if this really can compare.

MayBooks2

These books I won in a twitter giveaway from the lovely Sophie, from ReviewedTheBook Check out her blog, and send her some love for me!

Splintered by A. G. Howard

I’ve heard this is a great book. It has connections to Alice In Wonderland, and I’m not sure if it’s a retelling or a continuation of it but I’m really excited to read it. It also has purple font, which makes this book a winner.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This book is another one that is all over Booktube, and it does sounds like an incredible series. Also, look at that cover, isn’t that pretty!

MayHaul8

Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella

This beautiful book was also sent to me by the lovely Sophie from ReviewedTheBook. I’m so incredibly thankful to her sending me this, and in awe of how kind she is. Also, check out that amazing business card.

MayBooks9

Thirteen Weddings by Paige Toon

This book was the book that I pre-ordered from Amazon, and I’m really looking forward to this. My friends Emma Louise, and Abbey absolutely adore this author and have already read and loved this book.

MayBooks6

These books were sent to me from the lovely Poppy at Little Brown. Thank you so much Poppy, I cannot wait to read and review them.

Friendship by Emily Gould

I saw this book in the Little Brown Autumn catalogue, and I immediately fell in love with it. The blurb is fantastic, and I’m excited to see what this author can do.

Upstairs At The Party by Linda Grant

This book also caught my eye in the catalogue, and I remember Emma Louise telling me she has it on her TBR pile. So we’ve decided to do a joint review of this book. Watch this space!

The Twins by Saskia Sarginson

This book has actually been on my wishlist for a while. I’m so thankful to Poppy for sending me a copy to read. The blurb has sat with me for a while, and I’d been meaning to pick it up!

Without You by Saskia Sarginson

When I saw this book in the catalogue, I actually did a little squeal. Classy. But, it sounded amazing and I only realised later that it was by the same author as The Twins.

Thanks again, Poppy!

MayBooks5

These books were sent to me by Rosie from Harper Collins. Thank you!!

The Way Back Home by Freya North

The Story of Us by Katy Regan

These books were complete surprises. They sound really good too, so I’m looking forward to reading them. Especially The Story Of Us that sounds exactly my cup of tea.

MayBooks4

A Discovery Of Witches & Shadow Of Night by Deborah Harkness

Oooo these books sound like crackin’ reads! I’ve heard many good things about these books, and am really looking forward to trying them.

I’m really excited to announce that I’m participating in my very first blog tour! Really can’t wait to tell you all what I think of this book, so keep an eye out for the review. It’ll be posted on the 5th June 2014!

Bargain Books Haul

Hi everyone! As I mentioned in my April Book Haul: link , I had a few books coming in from The Works. I thought I’d do a seperate post for these because I got them at bargain price along with a few others.

The Works 1

It was the first time I’d ordered anything from The Works, and I can’t say I’m 100% happy with them. I went to The Works for a specific book, which I ordered, and then I ordered the others so that I’d get free delivery. (I hate paying delivery costs, especially when it’s more than the price of the book I’m buying). Then they emailed me to say that the book was no longer in stock, and they refunded me for it. Was just a little dissapointing that I couldn’t get the book that I’d gone to the site for.

In terms of delivery, most books came in seperate parcels and they came fairly quickly, which is good. I’d ordered them just before Easter with a 30% voucher, so the books worked out really cheap too.

One thing that annoyed me was that some books came in odd sizes. Two came in mass paperback size, not only do they not match my other books from this author, but I find the font way too small to read. One book was massive too, at least I can read it but I love when all the heights match.

Anyway, these are the books that I ordered from The Works.

The Works 3

Divas by Rebecca Chance

I was really excited to see this book on the site, I have all the other books from Rebecca Chance and was looking forward to completing the collection. I was really dissapointed when they arrived in mass paperback. I’ll probably end up buying them again in the bigger paperback size so I can read them.

Getting Over Mr. Right by Chrissie Manby

This book was in a 6 for £10 deal, and it sounded like a fun fluffy read so I added it into my basket.

Bad Girls by Rebecca Chance

The other Chance book that was mass paperback, sadly. Nevermind! They worked out to be about £1.50 each so I might give them away to a charity shop and purchase them again from Amazon.

The Works 4

Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider

I saw this book in a video from Laura Lovelock (SheLovesToRead) and she was saying she’d purchased this and it sounded like a good read.

A Very Accidental Love Story by Claudia Carroll

This was the book that was massive! It’s sounds like a good read, and I know a few people that have read it so I figured I’d give it a try.

Step Back In Time by Ali McNarma

This was another book that Laura Lovelock had purchased, and again, she made it sound good so I got a copy too.

The Works 5

City Of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

I saw this book on the site, and immediately popped it into my basket. My boyfriend had bought me the first in the series for our anniversary, and as I had a voucher I figured I’d get it whilst I could.

The Accidental Life Of Jessie Jefferson by Paige Toon

This was a great find for me, as the lovely Emma Louise (EmmaLouBookBlog) is always raving about this author, so when I saw this at the cheap price I added it to my basket.

The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides

These next two books I found when trying to get my order to the free delivery, and complete the 6 for £10 deal. I loved The Virgin Suicides by this author and was really interested in reading more of his work.

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

I bought this book as the blurb caught my eye, and it would complete the book deal.

Overall, I was satisfied with ordering from The Works, purely because they were extremely inexpensive. I worked it out and each book cost about £1.50! Which is a bargain, especially for books that follow a series like City Of Ashes.

Whilst I was in Southport, I popped into a clearance book shop, and these are the books that I found.

Bargains 1

Each book from this shop was only £1. Seriously!

Bargains 3

The Selection & The Elite by Kiera Cass

Remember I said I went to The Works to order a specific book (which I didn’t end up receiving) I found it in this clearance shop. I was really happy, especially because it was slightly cheaper… and I found it’s sequel.

Bargains 2

Pictures of Lily by Paige Toon

I couldn’t believe I found a Paige Toon book, and that it was £1. Heard great things about this one in particular too.

The Future Of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler

I first spotted this because of its bright cover, then I spotted the authors names. Jay Asher! As in Thirteen Reasons Why, Jay Asher! Had to buy it and read more of his work.

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Spotted this as I walking to the till, and realised I’d got Beautiful Disaster. I wondered if  it was part of a series, so I picked it up. I thought it’s only £1 and it could complete a series from this author. I was right, this is a trilogy so I’ve saved quite a few pennies there.

Extremely happy with these finds, and I’m eager to find more bargain books. If you know any online sites that are good, please let me know!
