My name is Katie Thompson, I’m 25 years old, and I’m from the UK.

 

 I’ve always been a keen reader. I remember distinctly the first book I was absolutely obsessed with when I was growing up. I remember reading it over and over again. The pages started curling, and there were stains from spilling my drink all over it. It was very much loved.

That book was Enid Blyton’s A Magic Faraway Tree.

This book fascinated me as a young girl, and I quickly realised just how much reading is an escapism. Just as those children climbed a tree to explore a new world, I opened a book and fell into the pages, the adventures, and the lives of the characters in the books

 My love for reading developed into a love for writing, and I began writing my own short stories and scripts. This lead to me studying Creative Writing and Film Studies at University, and cemented my passion for discussing different genres and narratives. I missed discussing these things with my peers after I graduated, and longed to find an outlet for this passion.

I decided to make this blog after reading different book blogs and reviews, and seeing how much my friends enjoyed reviewing books. I loved the idea that there is this community online that enjoy talking about their favourite reads. It was like being sat in seminars listening to my friends discuss their latest obsessions. I’ve really enjoyed finding gems from recommendations made on those blogs, and hope my blog becomes a reason that someone picks up a book that they may never have looked at twice.

As well as reading and writing, I enjoy watching films and TV shows. I’m quite interested in the adaptaions of novels. I find it interesting how directors and producers take the written word and present it in moving image. I had a module on this subject in university and I adored it. We read the book and then viewed the adaptations. The analysis was fascinating, and has intrigued me ever since. As well as giving my thoughts on various different books, I would also like to discuss the adaptations and post my thoughts on those.

My blog has developed quite a lot since I started my blog at the end of February 2014, and I’m happy to say that I’ve added a lot of extra content that I hadn’t planned on doing. I do different lifestyle posts, DIY posts & Recipes. This blog really has developed from just a book blog to basically anything that is interesting me at the moment. If I’m trying out a new game, I’ll share it with you guys and give you my thoughts. If I’ve seen a rave worthy film, I’ll let you know about it.

This is a hobby that I love. If I’m ever honoured enough to be overwhelmed with requests, I’ll take a break from requests and stick to my own purchases. Especially if it’s because of deadlines – purely because I work full time, and wouldn’t want to dissapoint anyone.

I like to read at my own pace. At the moment, I’m managing a book a week depending on my hours at work.
In terms of review requests, if I like the sound of your book I will definitely give it a read.

I will always give an honest review.

If I don’t respond to your email, I’ve either not had chance to get to it as I’m working, or I’ve decided to pass on your offer. If it’s not for me, I’ll pass because I feel like a review wouldn’t do the book justice. Just because it’s not my taste, doesn’t mean others won’t love it.

I’d love to accept any form of your book, preferably paperback – but I do have a kindle should you wish to send me an ebook.
