Hello lovelies, today’s blog post is the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award!
I was nominated for this blogging award by Ashleigh (or just Leigh) over at ashleylianne.wordpress.com – thank you for thinking of my blog Leigh! Just as Leigh says in her blog post, I too was nominated for the Liebster Award back last year but I hadn’t heard of this one. From what I can gather it follows a similar vein to that one – where you answer questions set by the person who nominated you and then leave questions for your nominees.
Here are the questions I was asked:
I have quite a few authors that I would consider favourites, but the ones that sprang to mind were Rainbow Rowell, David Levithan, John Green & Matthew Quick. These are all YA contemporary authors, as that seems to be my genre of choice as of late. I’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting both Rainbow Rowell and very recently David Levithan through book signing events.
Which song/artist did you listen to last?
I was out with Stewart in the car earlier and was listening to City of Angels by 30 Seconds To Mars, who just happen to be my favourite band. I’ve seen them live twice and they’re fantastic.
Can you cook/bake? If so, what’s your ‘signature dish’?
Well, I feel like I need to work on my cooking skills. An example for this was when I was back in Uni, I was making packet mash (gross actually) and I added a litre of water instead of a pint so it ended up resembling wallpaper paste. I am happy to say I have improved greatly since then, but my skills need work for sure.
I do feel I can bake quite well. My signiture bake would be cupcakes, just like the ones I did for Halloween last year. I did a blog post about those if you’re interested – you can find that here.
Where is your favourite place to socialise, why? (bar, coffee shop etc)
Lately, I seem to host a lot at my house – which I love, but if I’m ever meeting people in Liverpool we tend to either go to Ed’s Rockets American Diner for a milkshake, Leaf – which is an independent teashop, or Central Perk – which is a coffee shop inspired by the one in Friends on Bold Street.
Who would you want to attend your dream dinner party?
I think I’ll exclude my family and friends because they’re an obvious choice and I’ll go outside the box a little bit. I’d have Elvis Presley so he can sing for us a little bit. Harry Potter (the character, not Daniel Radcliffe) because I want to throw a billion questions at him. Matthew Quick and John Green so I could meet some more of my favourite authors. Josh Hartnett and Evan Peters for the eye candy. Looks like I’ll be surrounded by men so I’ll add Ellie Goulding because I heard she’s lovely. Enid Blyton so I could thank her for my love of reading. Mila Kunis because she seems like she has a good sense of humour.
Ideal holiday destination?
I would really like to go back to New York and go to all of the places I didn’t get to go when I was last there, for example, the 9/11 memorial and The Strand book store. I would love to go to Florida to go to the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.
I’m very pale and have skin that burns easily so I’m not incredibly fussed about super sunny places, but if I can garuntee I wouldn’t get burnt I’d go to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I’d like to check out Christ the Redeemer too.
Favourite YouTuber, why?
I have a blog post already written and scheduled all about my five favourite youtubers so I’ll leave this question for now!
If you could only own 5 items for the rest of your life, what would they be?
I’m going to answer this away from my sentimental items, such as, the things that I inherited from my grandparents because that’s a given. Instead I’ll think about it in terms of entertainment value.
I’d keep my laptop so I could write blog posts, and keep up with social media. I’d keep my iPad so I can listen to music, read ebooks, and play games. I’d keep my special Harry Potter books because they’re pretty. I’d keep my scrabble board game because it’s my favourite one to play and I’d keep The Big Bang Theory boxsets because how could I live without Sheldon’s wit?
Who do you admire most in life?
This is probably going to be an obvious answer, but I really look up to my mum and dad. They’re the most supportive, loving, caring parents I could have asked for, and I don’t know what I’d do without them. I like to think they did a fine job raising me and my brothers, and worked hard to be able to take us on holidays etc to give us incredible childhood memories. They’re bound to be reading this, so… hello – I love you both lots! I’ll see you tomorrow!
What was the last lie you told?
Oh goodness me, I’m not sure to be honest. I suppose I had a very false and toxic ‘friendship’ with someone that I’m rather relieved is over. Not dwelling on that because it’s not worth the effort but that’s the nearest thing that springs to mind.
I’m going to nominate:
Abbey from missbookworm reviews
Jenny from JennyInNeverland
Lynsey from LynseyJames
Becky from BeckyBedBug
Leona from OhLeona
Maryline from MssBookshelf
Here are your questions:
1. A movie is being produced about your life, who would play you?
2. In a similar vein, what would your biography be called?
3. Can you play any instruments? If not, which would you have liked to have learnt how to play?
4. All of your books are about to be burnt, you can safely grab 3 books – which would they be?
5. Are there any quotes that you love?
6. If you could live in any fictional land or world, which would it be?
7. What is your favourite board game?
8. Have you ever seen a ban live? Who and when? If you haven’t who would you like to see?
9. What do you do to keep your blog & life organised?
10. Which Hogwarts house would you be in, and why?
Thanks again to Leigh for nominating me! Tomorrow I’m heading to the Harry Potter Studio Tour for the first time. I’m beyond excited, so there will be a weeks worth of posts coming your way (all going well) next week.
